Ridgeway Methodist Church provides a very wide and varied programme of youth events for both younger children and teenagers, both within the Church and the wider local community. There are a variety of activities for children and teenagers during Sundays, both before and during the main morning service. Various activites are held on weekdays both at the church and in local schools.
Over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, our young people are involved in "The Noise" - a national event initiated by "Soul Survivor". This is a scheme which encourages children and teenagers to be involved in activities both within the Church and in the local community.
During the summer there is usually a holiday club during the last week of the school holidays. This is mainly aimed at school age children, with teenagers welcome as helpers. In 2009 a total of 96 children attended and about 20 teenagers. We used the SHOWSTOPPERS! material produced by Scripture Union and had a fantastic week - even celebrating Christmas on the Thursday and Easter on the Friday.
Ridgeway Methodist Church also hosts companies of both the Boys' Brigade and Girls' Brigade. The 2nd Plympton Boys' Brigade meets on Mondays in term time, and the 1st Plympton Girls' Brigade meet on a Thursdays, also in term time only.
