Our Christmas celebrations include two candlelit carol services, usually on the last two Sunday evenings before Christmas Day. The first of these is an all-age service, which starts with a candlelit procession up the Ridgeway for all the children attending the service, although all ages are welcome to join in! The second carol service takes a more traditional form, with more readings from Scripture and more of the traditional carols.
Central to our Christmas celebrations are the late night service on Christmas Eve and the morning service on Christmas Day. Our Christmas Eve service includes Holy Communion after midnight in the early minutes of Christmas Day. The service on Christmas morning is an all-age service which is usually attended by lots of families.
In recent years a Christingle service shortly before Christmas has become a regular part of out Christmas programme, as well as a time of carol singing in the centre of the Ridgeway shopping centre, which was shared by people from all the Plympton churches. Our Christmas celebrations usually conclude in the New Year with a Christmas party for all the children who attend the Church, as well as Christmas meals for many of the groups that meet in the Church, held over until January when the schedules are clearer!
