Church Building

Our new Church building was opened in May 1994, and it combines a large worship area with several other rooms in which different activities take place. This section of the site contains information about all the facilities at Ridgeway Methodist Church, as well as photos of each room. Click on the pictures to view the full size photos.

Inside the Church The main worship area at Ridgeway Methodist Church is a large, octagonal shaped room with movable seating for up to approximately 200 people. For most services the seating is laid out to fit in about 150 people, and is laid out facing the raised area at the front. Seats can easily be turned to face the side wall or removed completely for other events. A diagram showing a rough plan of the chapel can be seen here.

VESTRY

Vestry The minister's vestry is located at the back of the Church on the left hand side from the preacher's point of view. It is in the vestry that the preacher prepares for leading worship and where the stewards pray with the preacher before the start of the service.

Church Hall The Church Hall is used for serving tea and coffee after services where a large number of people are expected, and is also used regularly for childrens' activities such as Boys' and Girls' Brigade. Lunches are served in the hall on Wednesdays, and it is also used by the Church's badminton group. The hall has its own sound system and piano, a fully equipped kitchen and several storage cupboards.

Our Bible Study classes take place here, and it is where some of the smaller groups hold their meetings. Like the Hall, it also has its own piano and loop system for the hard of hearing. The Lounge is used before the morning service on a Sunday for prayer.

CRÈCHE

Crèche The crèche is situated alongside the main worship area, and has a triple-glazed window to enable people to watch the services. The crèche is linked to the Church's main sound system and an audio link enables those running the crèche to listen to the services. A range of toys are available in the crèche and there is also a small kitchen area.
